I will be the first to admit that as much as I like to fancy myself a “creative”, I am not the Martha Stewart kind of person who just thinks crafty thoughts, wiggles her nose, and produces a beautiful masterpiece. My brain is so big-picture oriented that I get these grand ideas, but reality is almost always a disappointment because I have a nightmare of a time executing the details.
That said, I am generally somewhat more successful with hacks (this probably comes from a lifetime of “$__?! It’s definitely not worth that – bet I could make it…”). I recently saw a beautiful tatted necklace on Etsy and decided to try my hand at reverse-engineering the pattern. I’m 99% sure it isn’t exact, but I’m quite happy with the result! (**I’m 100% NOT saying this piece wasn’t worth the asking price. It was beautiful and if I didn’t tat and didn’t get excited about trying it, I would totally have bought it)
Because I had to do a couple joins of new thread, I decided to try out the Russian join that I saw on Pinterest. It was tough since my thread was only like 3-4 ply, but I am super happy with the outcome!
